Melissa Potter

Accredited in 2012 with a specialization in paper conservation, Melissa is currently the Conservator, Works on Paper at the Art Gallery of Ontario. Previously, Melissa held a term position at Queen's University Library as Conservator, Archives & Rare Books and Special Collections. From 2012 to 2025, she ran a successful private practice in Toronto, working on a wide range of paper-based materials for public, corporate, and individual clients, including the Aga Khan Museum, John Slavin Paper Conservation Ltd., and the Image Centre. She worked at the Archives of Ontario and the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, and was a contract conservator for the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam and Museum Boijmans van Beuningen. She was awarded a Kress Fellowship with the Teyler's Museum, Haarlem, and held internships there, at the Baltimore Museum of Art, and the Art Gallery of Ontario. Melissa earned her Master of Science and Certificate in Art Conservation, specializing in paper, from the Winterthur/University of Delaware Program in Art Conservation (2003). She is a Professional Associate Member of the American Institute for Conservation of Art and Historic Works. Services offered in English.
